Hello everyone, Just an update to let you know that last night I sent the Minister for Health, The Honourable Greg Hunt, the 1744 signatures and accompanying comments, in the petition calling for compulsory warning labels to be placed on the outside of products (in Australia) that contain Montelukast (such as Singulair). Additionally myself and a team of dedicated parents also sent the Minister for Health a letter requesting further research into the neuropsychiatric side effects of Montelukast and acknowledgment of long term side effects and a potentially intense withdrawal period in those who have suffered an adverse reaction. We have further asked that the side effects be reclassified to 'common' in children, to ensure the Product Information and Consumer Medicines Information is in line with current research findings. Lastly we provided the Minister with the outcomes of our in-depth, 52 question survey exploring the experiences of those who suffer an adverse reaction to Montelukast. The survey presents the experiences of 390 participants. The results of this survey can be found in the 'Files' section of the Montelukast (Singulair) Side Effects Support and Discussion Group, on Facebook. Thank you to everyone that commented on and/or signed this petition. We hope that the Minister and the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration will act swiftly to protect the mental health of children and adults that are using this medication or will use this medication in the future. Warning labels are not a big ask and we believe they will have a very positive impact on mental health in Australia. Kindest regards, Vanessa Sellick Advocate for the Awareness of Montelukast (Singulair) Side Effects
