Thank you to everyone that has signed and shared our petition to ask the Hon. Susan Ley and the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration to ensure that mandatory fluorescent warning labels are placed on the outside of the packaging for all medications in Australia that contain Montelukast.
Parents deserve the right to be informed about such potentially severe side effects so they can conduct a risks vs benefits analysis prior to making the decision to administer or not, this widely prescribed asthma medication. Many affected families in Australia were not given the right to 'informed consent'.
We have created a Facebook group for those families in Australia that have been affected by the neuropsychiatric side effects and who would like to assist us in succeeding to get the warning labels placed on the Montelukast (Singulair) packaging. The group is called the
Australian Action Group and can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/327772844013752/ref=bookmarks
We have been reading through the many comments left on the petition and have felt saddened to see that so many families have also experienced these side effects. We have a 'Montelukast (Singulair) Side Effects Support and Discussion Group' with over 2100+ members from across the globe. Most of our members are parents of affected children however we also have some affected adults on the page. If your family has experienced these side effects please feel welcome to join the group (if you have not already done so).

On the 22nd Sept the Australian Medical Association posted a response to our story and stated that Dr's have been warning parents of these side effects. Sadly this is not what the majority of our members from Australia or overseas are reporting to us.
It is with great respect that I can report that after the 7:30 Report story went to air, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) placed a reminder of the potential neuropsychiatric side effects of Montelukast to Dr's in their 'In Practice' newsletter on the 9 Sept 2016.
Thank you again to everyone that has signed, our petition is still active so we would appreciate you sharing this in any way that you can. We need as many signatures as possible.
