The University of Staffordshire have decided to break a tradition of at least 14 years of having the graduation ceremony of its students be held off campus at grand venues like the Kings Hall, and have instead chose to have it in the Catalyst. A study building on campus in which many students attend every single day. 

The announcement of holding the ceremony here will make a very important day that thousands of people have worked hard for so insignificant and unremarkable and not at all the grand celebration it is supposed to be. 

It is not fair to have family and loved ones travel and pay for tickets to sit on plastic chairs in a study hall that is free to enter year round and watch graduates collect a ceremonial degree right next to a cafe. 

Even if the space is decorated beautifully, students will not feel like their day is being honored the way they deserve.
