Let the people decide on a Alabama Lottery

The Issue

We are surrounded by states that have a lottery. We have Indian Reservations with gambling devices. Our state is suffering from lack of funding. Our state education seems to be failing. Our state continues to cut budgets and not replace retired vital positions.

We are throwing away money that could be used during this hard time. Every time an Alabamian buys a lottery ticket from one of our neighboring states that is revenue that our state could have used. It's time Alabama give up these "Big Brother" ways and let "We, the people" sound off for a change.

A Lottery in the State of Alabama would help make up the difference where our tax dollars are lacking. Why do we need "Big Brother" to make the choices for the people. If I do not want to drink, then I shouldn't buy booze, if I don't approve of gambling then I should stay out of a casino, and if you don't want to play the lottery then DON"T BUY A TICKET...BUT... don't take the choice away from me!!

Governor Bentley said during his campaign that he would not make a choice on the Alabama State Lottery. He said that he would let the people decide. I am still waiting to cast my vote and here we are, well into his term and still no vote. It seems as though Governor Bentley made a lot of promises that were are still waiting on for delivery.

Do not let the views of a few taint a good opportunity for the State of Alabama. If you or others do not approve of a lottery then simply do not buy tickets just as you would do for anything else one does not approve.

Approve or vote for an Alabama State Lottery. Let the people choose for themselves!
