One of the benefits of living in our Canadian society, is that almost anyone can open a business. Unfortunately, this system is often abused. The Ontario government has placed little to no regulations for certain industries.

Talent agencies in Ontario can be opened and operated by just about anyone. With no government regulations overseeing the agent-to-client exchange, agents have the opportunity to abuse their power. 

 Over $600,000 in missing payments has been reported by the actors at Compass Artist Management. Some of the actors affected have lost their entire annual salary. The money they would use for their housing payments, groceries and medication. An investigation has been launched by Toronto Police regarding potential fraud charges. But without the Ontario Government regulating talent agency operations, industry workers are still left vulnerable.
