Every other day we come across dead bodies of dogs that have got run over by us on highways and interior roads, sometimes leading to bigger accidents and causing a loss to human life too. There have been recent incidents of mass culling of and torture to stray dogs at hands of human beings. Many of us find it difficult to have a good night's sleep because of continuous barking of stray dogs. They fight with each other, leading to severe injuries and even death to themselves. They very often attack the passers-by, causing accidents, bites, injuries and in many cases even death. News like "Stray dogs maul a small child" are too common to hear. Instead of their culling as done in Kerala, government must make efforts like adoption drives, sterilization, rehabilitation and rescue centres & shelter homes (kennels) for stray dogs. This will ease the "human" residents' sufferings, at the same time rendering care and love to the stray dogs.
