Darren Archer started this petition to Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Government of Australia

Background: A researched article published by the South China Morning Post (Josephine Ma, Published: 8:00am, 13 Mar, 2020), states that the Chinese government has tracked the first person infected with the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) to a 55 year old Hubei resident (Hubei is a Provence of Central China whose capital is Wuhan).

Read the article here...

Traced back to the 17th of November 2019 the 55 year old Hubei resident is known to have caught the Covid-19 virus through animal to human transmission from either eating bat meat, or coming into contact with someone else who contracted the virus from eating bat meat.

The bat meat containing the virus was obtained from the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, that is a live animal and seafood market located in Jianghan District, Wuhan, Hubei, China.

These markets are also known throughout the world as wet markets.

Live animal wet markets, particularly throughout Asia, trade in many types of exotic and protected specie animal meats (such as bat and endangered pangolin) for local human consumption.

These meats are known to contain viruses that are extremely dangerous to human life (such as the Coronavirus) and are at high risk for animal to human transmission.

‘This petition calls to the Australian Government and Prime Minister Scott Morrison to legislate a permanent ban to ALL temporary and permanent residents of those countries known to capture, sell or trade in animal species identified as virus carriers with medium to high risk of  transmission from human consumption’.

This ban should continue until those countries cease to hunt and trade in high risk meats for human consumption and whose residents wish to visit or immigrate to Australia.

Further, for a period of no less than 12 months after a country has proven to successfully eliminate and made illegal the hunt and trade of high risk meats for human consumption, those residents wishing to visit or immigrate to Australia will be made to quarantine for 14 days before continuing their Australian journey.

The human and economic toll Australia, along with the rest of the world, is currently suffering due to the unwarranted and selfish consumption of high risk meats is staggering and absolutely avoidable.

This is not a petition to ban meat.

This is not a petition to denigrate a specific country, culture or people.

This is not a petition to stop a country, culture or people in hunting or trading in the meats as they deem fit or necessary.

This petition is for the protection of Australia. It is a petition for the protection of the Australian people and it’s economy. It is a petition that is measured, appropriate and necessary to protect our culture, indigenous and non, as well as our heritage.

As Australians who are empathetic to the protection of our nation I urge you to sign this petition now.

Sign so that we may all continue to enjoy and appreciate what generations of our forbears, indigenous and non, have lived, created and died for in the making of this great nation Australia.

If you would like to donate to support this petition and it’s delivery to Prime Minister Scott Morrison you can do so here...

Thank you
