Stop Animal Abuse by Making New Laws.
The Issue
My issue with animal abuse is that while yes, it is illegal, not much is done about it. I understand that people are more important than animals in most cases. However, imagine if you were the one who was always stranded in the cold, nearly starving, with a chain around your neck. It would be like being a war prisoner. Plus, when it comes to the violence, if a person is brutally killing or nearly killing animals for their enjoyment, they could eventually start killing people. Isn't it better to nip the bud of a bad flower before it spreads, instead of waiting for a human life to be taken?
Obviously, we would have to specify the difference between abuse and discipline. For example, lightly tapping your dog with a newspaper for peeing in the kitchen would be discipline. But hitting said dog with your hand as hard as you could would be abuse. It’s not fair for animals. I mean, for a while, there was an Instagram user who literally recorded him/herself brutally killing cats and posting them there! Thankfully, many Reddit users posted about this "person", if we want to call them that, and got enough people to report the account and it got deleted, but the fact that a person would even think about doing that just makes me absolutely livid.
I care a lot about this because as I said before, it starts with harming animals, then humans. We should stop these people from doing these cruel things before human lives are taken, and before people have to mourn for their loved ones because their lives were taken way before they should have been.
One last thing I should specify, making your pets go vegan should also be against the law, as you are depriving them from nutrients they need. I understand some pets, like hamsters, do not eat meat, but the ones that do need meat, well, obviously, you are just slowly killing them. In conclusion to this entire essay, I want to talk about what I think should happen to those that abuse animals. You should be given the same charges as you would if you did the things animal abusers do to humans. Kill your pet? You would be charged with murder. Putting an animal down would be an exception, since you are putting them out of their pain, but it would ONLY BE putting an animal down if you are at a veterinarian office, and they use a needle like they should. Kick your pet across the room? Charged with Assault/Battery. And so on. Thank you for your time.
