Hello everyone, Cree A here.
I just wanted to tell everybody a big thank you for all their support so far.
When I started this petition, I knew that even though a few people may not understand my plight, there would be the majority who understood the importance of this petition.
The new generation needs to know that you can be anything you want to be without fear or self-limitation because they are "black". I went on instagram last night, and an "influencer" made a comment on Dave Chapelle's Netflix special saying that "if a 'black' woman said what he said, she would be criticized". I didn't even read the rest of her remarks because the amount of self-doubt her post exceeded shows how she feels about herself.
We need a new generation of people where they are not afraid to be themselves. That is why I say change your names back to your real names, African and African American. People in America will tell you that: The demographic of people living in slums are mainly "black". The majority of men incarcerated in America are mainly "black". The number of people o welfare in America are mainly "black". I could go on, but I think you get what I am trying to say.
You never hear of Africans, (true Africans) being involved with negativity because we refused to be westernized and continue to live with our true cultures staying true to ourselves. The ones who immigrated to the west and thought it "cool" to abandon their African morals regret it. Why don't we take a cue from the Asians and call ourselves by our real name: African. And even better, the change starts with us. When we start to identify ourselves as African and African American, every attitude and thing associated with being "black" MUST be dropped. We can't leave this kind of thing for a new generation to inherit.
I hear of things like "black owned business", but the term "black" has been so corrupted, it doesn't make people feel better. So many people have stated feeling comfortable with putting their African country of origins in their social media, BECAUSE IT IS BETTER THAN BEING CALLED BY A STATISTIC.
We have the power to change the narrative. I believe in this petition, and I believe in everybody who has seen my petition and understands it. This isn't about you or me, it is about making a future for future generations that they may not live in fear or self doubt.
If you believe in my petition, please help me out by making a small donation; even of $5 to keep my petition visible to other people. My audience is scattered all over the world, and there is only so much I can do as 1 person making $30 donations every two weeks when I get paid. Every little helps, and as you can see on Change.org, 100% of ALL proceeds go towards getting new and fresh views for my petition.
Help me make this petition victorious. I love you all.
