The Gosforth Group MUST address the concerns of families from Jesmond Park Academy
The Issue
On the morning of 19 October 2023, families in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne were told that Storm Babet had damaged their secondary school - Jesmond Park Academy - and that it would be closed for the day. It was reported here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-67157282
Although we received daily messages, there was no end in sight. No-one could tell us when it would reopen and the messages did not say who was taking responsibility.
The way in which the Gosforth Group has dealt with this situation has failed the families of Jesmond Park Academy.
We ask for the Chief Executive to call a meeting for parents and carers of Jesmond Park Academy to explain what happened, what the Trust intends to do in order to minimise the impact on our children, and to outline what lessons they have learned for the future.
