Years ago, The Giant Company—owner of brands like Giant and Martin’s—promised to go 100% cage-free by 2025. It is now 2025, and the company has yet to fulfill that promise. The Giant Company continues to sell eggs that come from conditions so cruel, they have been banned in eleven states and condemned by scientists and animal welfare experts worldwide.

Hens who are confined to filthy and cruel battery cages are denied everything natural and important to them. They are forced to lay eggs in the same cramped, unsanitary space where they defecate, sleep, and eat, oftentimes being forced to live amongst their dead and decaying cagemates. These sensitive and inquisitive animals are also denied basic natural behaviors – like perching and dust bathing – which is detrimental to their health and well-being. 

While The Giant Company says the products it sells are “For Today’s Table,” do consumers really want to extreme animal cruelty on their table? The hens in The Giant Company’s supply chain are confined to tiny wire cages and cannot freely walk around or spread their wings for the entirety of their sad, miserable lives.

Additionally, The Giant Company's failure to keep its promise of going cage-free undermines both its credibility as a retail leader and its trustworthiness with customers.

The Giant Company, it's time to put an end to selling eggs from vile battery cages, as you promised years ago. Both animals and your customers are counting on you to stop supporting this extreme animal cruelty!
