A Statement from Friends of Old Hickory Lake: Setting the Record Straight on District 3 Alderman Race
Councilman Pascal Jouvence is telling voters that Friends of Old Hickory Lake supports his re-election.
This no longer the case.
FOHL and MGNA-PAC Are Two Different Organizations
Friends of Old Hickory Lake (FOHL) is a non-partisan citizen group focused on protecting the lake and opposing the marina.
Make Gallatin Nice Again PAC (MGNA-PAC) is the political action committee made up of many of the same Gallatin residents as FOHL that recruits and endorses candidates for Mayor and City Council. However, only MGNA-PAC makes endorsements.
Why FOHL Withdrew Its Support
MGNA-PAC asks every candidate for Mayor and City Council to commit to three principles before earning the PAC's support: You can read the Compact With the People of Gallatin at www.peopleofgallatin.org
This commonsense compact was created by People of Gallatin for the People of Gallatin by listening to your concerns and from your personal experiences dealing with the leadership of the City of Gallatin.
- Reform Gallatin's government and restore ethical administration.
- Pause runaway development, protect Gallatin taxpayers, and require developers to pay their fair share.
- Deliver respectful, civil, and transparent government.
Councilman Jouvence refused to commit to these principles as written. Instead, he:
- Demanded the MGNA-PAC accept his own rewrite of these principles
- Demanded the MGNA-PAC endorse his preferred slate of candidates for Mayor and city council.
The MAGNA-PAC selects the candidates it chooses to consider endorsing and does not allow one candidate considered for endorsement to demand other endorsements. The MAGNA-PAC does not engage in illegal quid pro quo activities.
The Bottom Line
In March 2026, after the announcement the Marina project had been shut down, FOHL publicly thanked Councilman Jouvence for his work opposing the Foxland Harbor Marina. That was recognition for one fight on one issue.
Councilman Jouvence did not lose FOHL's goodwill over the marina fight. He lost it because he would not commit to “ethics, development limits, or transparent government” - the principles found in the Compact with the People of Gallatin. You can read it here.
