The Issue

In this, our 60th year, the fans of Star Trek invite our fellow Trekkie, David Ellison, to join us in reaffirming our commitment to the principles and values Gene Roddenberry built into the heart of Star Trek.

Principles and values best expressed in Gene’s own words.

"Star Trek was an attempt to say humanity will reach maturity and wisdom on the day that it begins not just to tolerate but take a special delight in differences in ideas and differences in lifeforms.”

“If we cannot learn to actually enjoy those small differences, to take a positive delight in those small differences between our own kind, here on this planet, then we do not deserve to go out into space and meet the diversity that is almost certainly out there."

In reaffirming our commitment to Gene’s vision, we hope to begin a bold new era of Star Trek, united in common purpose, to continue Gene’s “Wagon Train to the Stars”, to boldly go where no one has gone before. Live long and prosper.

"It isn't all over; everything has not been invented; the human adventure is just beginning."

Gene Roddenberry (1921 - 1991)
