The Issue

For over 60 years, our elementary school has served as more than just a place of learning for our children; it has been the heart of our community. Generations of families have walked through its doors, and its name has become synonymous with a sense of pride and continuity in our neighborhood. It’s not just a name; it’s a legacy that binds us all together, a symbol of our shared history and values.

The proposed renaming of our beloved school dilutes the deep connections and community spirit we have so carefully nurtured over the years. While change is often a necessary part of progress, it should not come at the expense of erasing the historical and cultural significance this school holds for our residents.

Historical significance is incredibly important. Our elementary school's name embodies the achievements, struggles, and memories of countless alumni who have contributed to our community. Changing it would be a disservice to all who have been part of this great institution. Its name is pledged in our community events, school banners, sports teams, and local history. It is an integral part of our identity.

Moreover, there has been no comprehensive consultation with the local community regarding this decision. Transparency and inclusivity are paramount when considering changes that affect us all. We believe that our voices need to be heard and respected before any such significant change is made.  Community involvement is crucial in making an informed and democratic decision.

Help us preserve the legacy of our school's name and the rich history it represents for our community. Stand with us and protect our tradition by signing this petition to ensure that the school retains its current name, reflecting decades of community pride and unity. Let us maintain the connection between our past, present, and future for generations to come. Please sign and share this petition with your friends, family, and neighbors.
