Remove "Indigo" from Roy G. Biv

The Issue

Since the classical age, many philosophers, artists, and scientists tried to classify the myriad of colors in the rainbow into a discernible group of hues. Isaac Newton, perhaps the most influential scientist of all time, arranged his color wheel between the years of 1666 and 1672. While many are familiar with the mnemonic device "Roy G. Biv" to distinguish the colors of the rainbow, very few people actually discern "indigo" from blue or violet. While, on the color spectrum, indigo would theoretically be located between 420 and 450 nanometers, modern color scientists typically divide blue and violet and 450 nm, excluding indigo completely. Even Isaac Asimov, one of the most influential scientific minds of the 20th century, stated that the pigment was not "worth the dignity" of being considered an actual color, merely a deep blue.

We need to stop misinforming our children with the irrational, dogmatic inclusion of indigo on the color wheel. By removing this nonexistent color, we may, perhaps, launch the country into a Renaissance of cogent, carefully considered logical conclusivity.

If you believe in a better future for all of civilization, you will definitely feel obligated to sign this petition. Indigo needs to go!
