UPDATE: Regarding the Christmas Nativity Show
UPDATE: 12/11/2020
Good day all you wonderful supporters!
Thank you ALL so very much for your continued support, I really appreciate you.
I like to share an update with you all and to also thank the huge number of people who have contacted me asking what the City of Perth and the Lord Mayor is doing about the Christmas Nativity, and if the Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas is delivering on his promise to the people to get the Christmas Nativity back this year and for the future years ahead.
This I can can tell you as of today 12/11/2020
I wrote a letter to the Lord Mayor on 30/10/2020 and sent him the petition which is still active and receiving support everyday.
I have been in touch with the Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas consistently since. I have had many Christian groups and Christian lobbyists getting in touch with me also looking for answers.
Given that 1.3 million people in WA identity as Christians, I can understand and appreciate the push to keep Christ in CHRISTmas and the Christmas Nativity to be reinstated and the biblical story of Jesus Christ’s Birth be told at Christmas time.
The Lord Mayor has since asked the producers and directors of the Christmas Nativity for a new proposal to be submitted to the City of Perth, this has been delivered by the producer to the City of Perth, this is now put in the hands of the CEO who is Michelle Reynolds and the Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas has confirmed to me that he hopes to have an outcome by this Friday which is tomorrow 13/11/2020
The Lord Mayor also told me the following “the decision on whether to spend the money for this year is not his or the councils to make - a decision like that can only be made by the CEO” who is Michelle Reynolds
The supporters and the Christian groups has told me that they will not accept anything less than the Christmas Nativity to be reinstated and put on for at least 2 nights this year in Forrest Place in the City of Perth.
We all appreciate that when Basil Zempilas was campaigning to be the Lord Mayor for the City of Perth that he promised the people in writing and verbally that he would return the Christmas Nativity to the people if elected. It’s only right that the people except him to deliver on that promise now that he is the Lord Mayor of our beautiful capital city of Perth.
I will wait until tomorrow to hear what the outcome is, if it’s not for any reason reinstated we will go to the next step, I have already asked many Christian groups to hold back from gathering at council house. I can understand that the people have the right to be heard and what was promised to them upheld and delivered, we are now close to 7,000 signatures on this petition in support.
Christmas is ALL about Jesus Christ first, it’s a very special time on our calendars every year and we will keep going until the traditional story of Jesus Christ’s Birth is told and NOT watered down in our capital city of Perth.
Once again thank you to ALL of you with your strong support for this petition and for getting in touch with me.
I will update you all again tomorrow on the outcome and take it from there if necessary.
God Bless you all
