Now that the General Election is over, HMGoG will be pressing on with plans for the Coaling Island Reclamation Scheme and Victoria Keys development. The massive 6 hectare Coaling Island Land Reclamation Environmental Statement will soon be considered by the Development & Planning Commission, which if approved, will pave the way for the Victoria Keys development to be built on the reclaimed land.  

The HMGoG plan to transport, rubble from the Eastside Rubble Tip (see photo) to provide the infill material for the Coaling Island Land Reclamation. The rubble will be transported across the centre of Gibraltar by HGV diesel wagons, (barges used weather permitting) not only belching out toxic diesel emissions, but adding 'dust soiling' to the air that we breath.

To make matters worse, The Coaling Island Land Reclamation and Victoria Keys development are both contrary to the Gibraltar Development Plan 2009.
