A BIG shout-out & thank you for your strong support to renovate our community center!  Every time someone signs the petition, notifications are sent to these individuals: Alderman Cappleman, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Chicago Park District Chief Operating Officer Pat Levar.

Simply put, the petition states: I ask you and the Chicago Park District to conduct a phased renovation of Clarendon Park’s historic Community Center Building in a way that fully reflects and supports the park’s existing programming and people. 

We are not done yet.  On Monday, we’re meeting with Alderman Cappleman to discuss the promises he has made—starting back in 2015—to support the renovation and look for additional funding. The DNAinfo article "Clarendon Park Field House Named Among “Most Threatened Historic Buildings” quoted the alderman on his promised support:

"Ald. James Cappleman... said the designation will not only help 'send a message' to the park district, which has threatened to tear it down in the past, but it'll also allow him to go to his state and federal elected officials to discuss more funding options... he said his office is looking for 'creative ways' to fund the renovation like infrastructure trust funds..."
