Stop these misleading ‘school league tables’

Each year the mainstream media (BBC, Telegraph, Independent, Times, Mirror) produce ‘league tables’ which rank schools solely on their final GCSE results.

This neither holds our publicly funded schools accountable for their performance nor helps parents make informed choices.  It entrenches the status quo and stifles informed public debate.  If the media want to tell the public which schools are 'best' they should at least base their reporting on progress based measures.
