Divided we are but a single voice in an ocean of uncertainty, but if we stand together we can have a bigger impact, have our voices heard, and demand the respect that should be afforded to all kinship carers who take on the re parenting role. We are fighting for the rights of the children we care for, whether grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren etc or children of acquaintances that are in our care not through a Foster care placement. These children are severely discriminated against by all governments simply because of where they were born or who they were born to. Its not right, its not acceptable and it must change.
If you care for a child other than your own (maybe from a family connection no matter how distant, or because you were a significant other in the child's life) and have not made a conscious decision prior to the child arriving that you will foster children, then you are a kinship carer.
Please come and join us on our facebook group so that you may add your voice to the call for change, the demand for recognition, and the rights of every Australian child to be acknowledged.

At the end of the day, no child living in a first world country should be excluded from support, nor the opportunity to reach their full potential due to where they were born, who they were born to or decisions made by third parties as to their eligibility.
