Update - 5000 signatures presented to Victoria Legislative Assembly - We move on!

Urgent community action required. Please act by signing this petition and please share. (Brighton and Blackrock piers have also been closed by Parks Victoria in the past few months) - and are under review.

The Sandringham pier in Hampton harbour was closed indefinitely to all public access by Parks Victoria. PV cannot confirm at this stage if the pier and associated public boat mooring arm will be repaired, replaced or not replaced at all.                                         We cannot let the latter happen. The pier has social, historical and cultural significance for this area. A pier in this harbour has been available to the public since the mid 1800s and is the only public access pier that allows walking, fishing /boat mooring and a safe landing in rough conditions within our area. All other facilities in Sandringham/Hampton are members only club facilities. It's also the closest pier to Trey Bit oval used by emergency services helicopters. As a caring diverse community working with all departments we will have a greater chance of getting this important and useful facility on the Sandringham foreshore repaired or replaced in a timely manner. This petition will be sent to the Minister for the Environment, Bayside Council, local politicians  and the media. The objective of this petition is to create broad community support for the reinstalling of this public facility and to secure appropriate and timely funding for Parks Victoria to do so.
