Hi Texas Technology for All Supporters,
Thank you for your continued support in helping Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTM) eliminate the digital divide across Texas.
During the March public hearings at the Texas State Capitol, AUTM leveraged your voice and was able to provide a formal testimony to the House State Affairs Committee in support of House Bill (HB5), a bill intended to extend broadband services by establishing a broadband services office, expanding digital literacy, and creating a digital inclusion plan for the state of Texas. AUTM was also able to provide public comments to the Senate Transportation Committee on Senate Bill 5 (SB5) relating to the expansion of broadband services to certain areas and the House Economic Development Committee on House Bill 1799 (HB 1799) relating to administration of apprenticeships and other workforce development programs.
To further expand digital equity across Texas, AUTM recently joined the Digital Texas Coalition, a statewide coalition of advocates, employers, and non-profit organizations working to improve digital connectivity for all Texans. Digital Texas believes all Texans should have equitable access to reliable and affordable digital connectivity that empowers them to meaningfully engage in their education, employment, healthcare, and the economy, including in rural Texas where long-neglected infrastructure needs must be addressed.
If you support reliable and high-speed internet access for all Texans for economic growth, the development of technology skills, and access to education, please share this petition with your network and help us reach out next goal of 2500 signatures!
Individuals and families needing access to technology or interested in training and development to enter the tech industry can complete a needs assessment via https://www.autmtx.org/needs-assessment-form
