We want our safety in Texas - Support SB 185

The Issue

Two months ago, Spencer Golvach was killed from a random shooting at a stop light in Houston, TX by an illegal immigrant who was a felon (assault, burglary amongst the charges) who had also been deported four times and had served 63 months in federal prison.  The current policy of asking immigration status is not being upheld by the police because of complaints that it is "racial profiling."  What that means to us in what is called a "sanctuary city" is that the people protecting us are being instructed not to ask these questions to get dangerous illegal aliens off of our community streets so that our families are safe.  This is not a racial issue at all - it is an issue to filter out dangerous criminals that can cause harm.  Dan Golvach, Spencer's father has testified in Austin and the representatives not supporting the bill and who are saying it is "racial profiling" to protect their own literally left so they would not have to hear Mr. Golvach's testimony about the murder of his son and the horror of what can happen by not upholding and supporting this bill.  Spencer was a completely innocent victim and had no relation whatsoever to this criminal that just decided to take his life.  We are asking through this petition to please put the citizens of this country safety before being afraid to simply ask a few questions and uphold and enforcing this law without relation to race.  Your job is to uphold and follow the current laws.  Spencer was a bright light, kind and loved everyone.  He was a contributor to this society and it was his home.  Do the right thing and support this bill.  If anyone is offended by being asked a few questions ... is that really worth losing a family member?  You are not doing the job you were elected to do and it is unacceptable and appalling.

The Isaih Factor did a story on this which explains it well:

For those representatives that failed to stay and listen to Dan Golvach's testimony, please take the time and consideration to see the effects of not supporting this bill:
