I propose repealing the laws that require front license plates on vehicles in Texas. There is no evidence of a decline in safety by removing them. There is little benefit to having a front license plate, it's impossible to see at night with the headlights right next to it and if the vehicle is driving toward someone, they will barely be able to glimpse it to get a positive ID. In fact, most people will read the rear license plate as the vehicle drives away. It costs tax payer money to require and enforce the laws not to mention to manufacture the plates themselves. Most cars do not come with a factory bracket and requires them to drill holes in their front bumper to mount a front license plate. Currently 19 states do not require front plates including our neighbors New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. A lot of motorists from these states regularly frequent Texas roads daily. These are just a few of the many reasons why we should rid ourselves of the front license plate requirement.
