The Issue

I, along with countless others in the UK, am tired of being forced to pay over £150 per year for a television licence that no longer serves the interests of the public it is meant to represent. This grievance is particularly poignant at a time when we are facing a cost of living crisis, with many of the elderly struggling to afford this fee and being threatened with legal action as a result.

The BBC, who benefits from the revenue generated by this licence, has been entwined with scandal after scandal of maintaining a pedophilia ring within its network. These revelations have immensely eroded the public trust.

In the age of on-demand and streaming services, paying a fee to watch live tv or use BBC IPlayer is both outdated and unjust. Especially when you consider that the cost to the general public amounts to approximately £3.5 billion each year - a figure that represents a significant burden on households across the country, particularly those in lower-income brackets (source: House of Commons Library).

Therefore, it is imperative for these fees to be abolished. We should not be made to pay for a service that is unjust and for an organization that has repeatedly failed to maintain ethical standards.

Please sign this petition and join us in calling for a long-overdue termination of unfair TV licensing fees.
