The Yulin Dog Meat Festival is an annual event held in Yulin, Guangxi, China during the summer solstice. It's estimated that each year, about 10,000 dogs are slaughtered for their meat during this festival. This practice has drawn international criticism due to concerns over animal cruelty and unregulated trade leading to potential public health risks. 

The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that consumption of dog meat poses a risk of rabies and other diseases like cholera. Furthermore, according to Humane Society International (HSI), many dogs consumed at the festival are stolen pets or strays.

This petition calls for an immediate end to this festival. We urge local governments to enforce stricter animal welfare laws and regulations on food safety standards that can help prevent such cruel practices from continuing.
