Terminate Executive Director Towfiq Islam for Creating a Toxic Workplace
The Issue
As staff, we have endured the repercussions of the unprofessional behavior and toxic workplace created by Mr. Towfiq Islam, the current Executive Director of Lheidli T'enneh First Nations Administration. Our experience has not been an isolated incidents - it is a clear pattern that spans over a significant period, characterized by intimidation, harassment, and bullying of multiple employees.
Research indicates that toxic workplaces lead to decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, and higher staff turnover rates (source: Harvard Business Review). An independent survey in our company would likely replicate these findings based upon personal observations and conversations with colleagues.
Mr. Islam's approach to leadership has created an environment of fear and distress, which is antithetical to the positive and supportive ambiance we should expect in a workplace. The detrimental impacts of such conduct are far-reaching, affecting individual mental health, team morale, and overall organizational success.
The time has come for urgent remedial action. We call on the Chief and Council of Lheidli T'enneh, the ELECTED REPRESENTITIVES of the Nation to terminate Mr. Islam's executive directorship, initiate an investigation into reports of toxic workplace practices, and importantly, to take measures that create a healthy, respectful and positive work environment. We trust that addressing this pressing issue will restore our faith in the organization and foster a healthy and productive workspace. Please, add your voice by signing this petition.
