Terminate Corruption Within Otero County Law Enforcement

As a resident of Otero county, I stand before you bearing valid concerns about the questionable operations within our local law enforcement agency. Unfortunately, I have personally experienced this misconduct. Law enforcement officers are sworn to protect and serve, but I have witnessed firsthand their deviation from this solemn vow. My story is a troubling incident involving falsified police reports, incompetence and encouragement of illegal activity, and gross misconduct as caught on body camera footage. All of this started over an illegal camera mounted to a pole viewing our backyard privacy area- hot tub and bathroom-
Despite providing concrete evidence to support my claim, my request for justice within the system has been repeatedly undermined. Filed reports to internal affairs were declared some founded some not but the not is the concerning one as it involves the deputy falsifying information on video and in his reports afterwards. And me being threatened with a crime for saying this didn’t happened when it is clear in body cam footage that it indeed did happen as well as the reports that reflect added information not seen anywhere in the video. It is disheartening to realize that the people we trust to maintain order and justice may not be living up to their roles.
Corruption within law enforcement agencies is not only harmful to the individuals directly affected but also erodes the public's trust in these institutions. According to Transparency International, corruption in law enforcement undermines the ability of the institutions to protect and serve the public (Transparency International, 2020).
With this in mind, I implore you to call for an independent investigation into these corrupt activities within the Otero County law enforcement agencies. It is time to hold these individuals accountable for their actions and to restore the public's faith in our local law enforcement.
