Imagine your pet being abused daily creating deadly injuries and there was nothing that a single person can do about it, welcome to the big lick. Working together we can stop this barbaric treatment of these horses. The Big lick is a horseback riding event that takes place in Tennessee and hasn't been stopped yet. In the big lick, they use harsh mechanical devices and chemicals on horses. These chemicals are applied to the hooves and limbs wrapping cotton wraps cooking the chemical into the skin and muscle. Then they would chain an extremely heavy weight below the horses shoe creating a high-stepping, unnatural gait step called soring. What soring looks like is an exaggerated version of the horse walking. The horses front legs soar up in the air so high, and all of the weight goes to the back legs. The reason the horse does this is because of the mechanics and abuse previously done to the horse that creating an insane amount pain so the horse steps higher, making the horse attempt to ease some of that pain. Judges create the score tallys by how far the horses legs go up, the higher the better. When I observed the videos of this, I saw heavy breathing, the horse constantly being overworked, constant muscle twitching and the horse was extremely  uncomfortable. When the horse isnt preforming they are in their stall getting more chemicals being applied to them or the owners kick them, hit them with heavy wooden bats, and pin their heads down in their stall for fun or discipline. Spray paint, human hair thickening products and other drugs were used to hide evidence of hair loss and scaring. When a horse is born, the body hasn't fully developed yet obviously, and in a normal horse environment a newborn foal (baby horse) would have to be at least 2 years old before it is ridden, if the horse is not waited for and ridden anyway, this can be damaging for his or her growing creating serious future problems. The participants in the Big Lick ride young horses, far too young for riding. Please vote for this to be stopped!!!!!
