This petition was created by Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville, a coalition of artists and activists who, with the assistance of local medical experts and non-profit organizations, are encouraging Nashville to reopen smokefree in all its indoor music venues, bars, and clubs. 

Musicians are the beating heart of Nashville. They are the city's entertainers and storytellers. As part-time servers, cooks, and bartenders, they keep Nashville running.  As COVID-19 wages war on respiratory systems across our state, there's no better time to clear the air — literally — and give back to those who are simply trying to get back to work as bars and venues gradually reopen. 

Currently the State of Tennessee prevents localities like Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville from creating their own smokefree laws. Your support of this petition will aid us in showing decision makers that voters demand it's high time to eliminate smoking once and for all indoors, and create smokefree workplaces for everyone in the state. Lives depend on it!
