Homelessness/Harsh and unfair eviction by spiteful property Manager

I am writing regarding the company representative Georgie White who  manages the  NRAS building also known as The Precinct in Plympton at 9 Elizabeth Avenue  

About me…

I am a migrant from China whose dream it was live, work and raise a family in Adelaide.

I am a proud Australian citizen and Labor supporter.

I am a single mother of a 9 yo boy and as such I can only work causal hours  

I have lived in this low income housing property for 4 yrs.

Due to my mental illness I cannot drive a car. The symptoms company with depression, anxiety  

I am on the extreme financial hardships and I am a low income single mum and barely manage to get by. I live week to week on a meahger waitress wage.

Due to cover my finances are worse than ever.

I share equal custody of our son with ex partner and he is in a similar financial situation.

Our son goes to Plympton International college at Primary

To my knowledge I have had no significant  issues with rents paid or inspections.

I’ve evicted from my place become homeless. After many discussions with relevant government department such as SACAT, Housing SA, UnitingSA and none of them could arrange a place for me and my son.

Given my financial status and despite many attempts to find a rental property in my budget I have been refused a rental on many occasions.

I simply do not meet the financial criteria to be accepted into a rental. Plus agent Georgie White declined reference on me.

I have been on the housing trust waiting list for around 10 yrs with no end in sight. I can only afford a 2x2 storage unit for only one month time. Most of my belongings are still at my place that is Unit7, 9 Elizabeth Avenue, Plympton Adelaide. and believe my life possessions will be on the street.

Since I learnt of the eviction I have sank into a deeper than usual depression and can barely function enough simply to work and raise my son. It is fair to say I have become a complete wreck and I see no way out.

I have no family in this country. 

My ex is also in no position, he also works  as casual as a chef and also lives in Plympton. He has no room at all to take me in or help with storage. He recently started a new job and can barely pay his own rent working only 5-20 hrs per week. He cannot give up any shifts to take extra nights with my son.

UnitingSA Matilda Coolen Case Manager get me this temporary place that is full of people are smoking, swearing all the time. When I waiting for owner come back to show me the room and I’ve overhead two people will smash another person’s face because of etc they believe this person has done something wrong to them. After I told Matilda Coolen What happening there then her answers is everywhere else are the same and even worse. 
Have any parents will have your kids to live in this kind of place 3 times a week with you?? And yourself have to stay there on daily basis. Matilda Coolen also says she has no idea how long I have to stay there.  As you can imagine this not a setting for a 9 yo old boy or any single mother.

Reason for my eviction
Around March to April 2021 I had raised an issue with the agency in question and the issuer of my eviction notice Georgie White of White Property management. http://whiteproperty.com.au/

I understand that the Georgie White (GW) represents a group that may be possibly be owned by The Highway Hotel given her office is based there and the building is built on land owned by that group or at least to my knowledge. A property managing agent have no her own office?


The reason I am being evicted is because I raised an issue in regards to a water bill increase. Given I had made friends over the 4 yrs in the building I had asked other friends and some neighbours in regards to their water bills.

I had always around the same amount of water and was simply enquiring as to the near 40% increase.

The agent Georgie White had refused I and others and answer to the water bills details  .  On the second hearings, Deputy has point out that there is no water bill mentioned in lease agreement at all. So agent should explain to tenets instead Georgie White says quote” If you do not like the current arrangement. I will be MORE than happy to terminate your lease immediately!! I have plenty people waiting on the list to take your apartment.”  


Georgie White then accused me directly of stirring up trouble in regards to increase in water bill which I was not and was simply enquiring given  I already live on the bread line and any increase has a direct effect on my budget and ability to raise my son and support myself.


Georgie W had previously evicted a whole family for a similar reasons in March 2021. 


18th Feb 2022 GW served me an eviction notice and labelled me a 'trouble maker’

I was devastated and pleaded with her to reconsider but she refused stating she had already arranged for another tenant to move in.

I spoke to my ex partner and he explained this is what he called the ‘landlord/agent doesn’t like you anymore clause’ This is where any landlord or agent can simply evict  you and give you no reason and that there is no government protections. It can be appealed and stalled but eventually I will be evicted.

I couldn’t believe this, that simply one spiteful, vindictive person can render me  and my son homeless with but a few months notice! I still can’t believe it but please believe it as it about to happen to me and my son.

I proceeded to apply for rental properties  in my budget but this is futile. 

Any rent needs to be 30% of my wage and given I only work very few hrs per week and I am not even considered.

Another agent I spoke to was honest enough to admit I have no chance of even being considered. Many properties have around 30 applications to 120. 

This agent advised me that dual income full timers are at the top of the list.

Single income full timers are next providing they make 30% of income and have stable full-time, long term employment.

Eg most rentals in the area are around $400+ for a 2 bedder. This equate to over $1200 gross wage.
I earn no where near that and never have and never will.

At the bottom of the list and are not even considered despite the law stating ‘all applications must be processed’ there is me. Single low income casual workers or no work with children.

This is in part why I will be without doubt without no fixed abode next month.

I have had a hearing with SATAC. However I know this is only prolonging the inevitable as they cannot override an agents eviction notice. Today is the day for eviction. 

Despite the eviction being cruel, harsh and unjust there is nothing I can do. It is my last hope that find a Pro bono lawyer cease cruel landlordsand agents such as Georgie White of White Property wrecking peoples lives and futures. But they told me I have case because there is law of 1995 act says landlord agents can evict tenants without any reasons.”


I cannot believe Australia treats its law abiding, tax paying citizens in such a cruel manner.

I have done nothing wrong!

Please help me as I am in deep despair and extremely desperate for support and guidance.

I have no one else to turn to, There is a long waiting list for community housing and I do not want my son live with me in a homeless  accommodation.  All I wanted is guaranteed my son has a stable lovely decent place to stay. But it won’t happened.

3rd June, a man from sacat knocked my door ask me to leave and I refused to go but he says he has to remove me from the property. When I try to contact my social worker who is not on duty that day, the man from sacat says “well, that doesn’t help, doesn’t it? Especially the person you looking for is not there”. 

I can’t stand this man try to push me over the edge so I says to him I will kill myself right here, he says he will call police over. I says to him go ahead. 

Everywhere I turn to looking for help but there is no help and right in front of me this man from sacat is being sarcastic to me. 

After he left, I took 12 sleeping tablets then there are phone calls and people knocking my door. Unfortunately I don’t have chance finish rest of them. 

Right now, as I am writing this letter I’m at Queen Elizabeth hospital mental health short stay unit. I’m still in desperation without any help. There is no policy actually regulate this agent to ruin my life. If she decided to throw my belongings away to the street then no one actually can stop her or give her any penalty!! 

I’m seriously wanted to sue agent Georgie White racist to me who has mental illness and a single mum with low incomes. 

I don’t know georgie white what going to do with my belongs. I worked really hard and saved money plus borrowed money bought a piano and iPads, TV, HD speaker for my son they are all in my place right now and is there anybody can stop Georgie White ruining my life??
