Let's Get Cell Service in Northeast Red Deer!
The Issue
My wife and I moved to Clearview Ridge 2011 prior to the development of over half of this neighborhood. Since then, multiple businesses, two large grocery stores, and three public schools have become part of our local community. This is not mentioning that development has continued in Clearview Ridge and Timberlands with Garden Heights almost entirely being built in that time with more neighborhoods coming.
During the expansion of our community there has not been an investment in additional infrastructure of the cellular/mobile networks in our part Red Deer. After over eight years in the area, we have found that we can no longer make calls from our basement and even our top floor during the commuting hours. With both my wife and I working from home this can tend to be less of an inconvenience and more of a detriment to our jobs. We also have heard similar frustrations from our neighbors in person and via the social media. With smart phones phasing out land lines, more people working at home, and a general increased dependency in the technology it is prudent that something be done.
My wife and I have taken some time to speak with Bell and Telus to ask about the problem and they both provided the same recommendation, "Have other people from your community call in to issue a complaint and that will help." In both instances the representative agreed that our area was in a "dead zone" and after reviewing the cell tower map we had to agree with them. Instead of only trying to get everybody to call into Telus and Bell (who share the same towers), or Rogers to try and get something done about this, we thought this would be a great step in trying to improve our circumstance. Can the residence of Red Deer please take a minute to provide a "Signature" on this petition.
