Tell Wilmington University discrimination is not OK

The Issue

Wilmington university speaks of education provided in a caring and inclusive environment.

It presents an image of acceptance, second chances, a place to improve or reinvent yourself.

I am being discriminated against by Wilmington University solely because I was adversely involved in the Justice system almost 10 years ago.

Ironically this conduct became illegal (if it ever had been legal to begin with) in the state of Delaware when the governor signed sb13 into law:

https://legis.delaware.gov/BillDetail?legislationId=109452

This bill was written to prohibit institutions of higher learning from engaging in this kind of behavior:

I am confident I am not the only one to face discrimination at the hands of this institution.

As a returning student, who was already accepted and admitted by the Dean of admissions, I am being blocked from enrolling in classes by a committee that represents the college.

Acceptance letter

They said they were acting off a phone call received at random, from a source they would not identify, nor clarify what specifically was said. Only that I was not a good fit for the school environment because of my being justice involved.

I was afforded no due process rights as outlined on the school website:

https://www.wilmu.edu/studentaffairs/due-process-for-hearings.aspx

I was given no opportunity to defend myself, and no effort was made to hear my side, talk to the character references who reached out.

The school showed no interest in the truth:

Instead they have attempted to intimidate me into silence.

It also didnt matter that I'd already attended classes there since January of 2017. Despite stress and setbacks dealing with my own legal issues, I excelled as a student, making the Dean's list, and having a GPA of 3.98 prior to a violation of probation causing me to not be able to complete a course.

Academic transcript

I never had any issues at the school or with anyone there. I got along with everyone I met.

Wilmington University is seeking to marginalize me, deciding that I don't deserve an education or a better future because of my having been involved in the justice system.

There is no other reason.

Under the law, and in every other sense, that is discriminatory.

But what good are justice reforms if people and institutions decide they don't have to follow them, or get to pick and choose?

The letter I received regarding re-enrollment:
