Thank you to everyone who signed! Please keep spreading the word and forwarding the link to your friends, whether they are full-time residents, part-time residents, or just occasional visitors to our area. Everyone who is paying for cell phone service should get what they pay for. I’ll probably keep the petition live for a few more days: hoping to reach 200 signatures and counting on this weekend’s lousy service to get a few more.
You may have seen a few comments from people who say they have no trouble with their cell service. Turns out most are referring to getting a signal while in their house, and that is often via wireless Internet or a booster attached to their router. I hope they realize that’s not what this is about and they could have horrible/no service once away from home.
I have a special-needs granddaughter I often babysit for; and while sitting two Weeks ago and I couldn’t reach my daughter to ask a care question, it hit me that if there were a medical emergency, I couldn’t even call emergency services. That’s a dangerous situation, and there’s no excuse for that in this day and age.
I appreciate all the comments and suggestions, too, and I’ll be looking into also contacting village/city officials and the Attorney General Consumer Division as some signers have suggested. I’m still hoping to get some media coverage about this issue; so if anyone has any media contacts, send them my way. Let the cell phone providers get a little bad publicity, not only about the horrendous service, but also their dismissive attitude when customers contact them about it: they deserve it.
Thanks again, everyone, and pass it on!
