Please make a polite call TODAY to Koch Foods and urge it to give “boning” the boot (use our sample message below)! After COK’s investigation of several Tyson Foods broiler breeder farms exposed the cruel practice of stabbing dull plastic rods through the nostrils of young male breeder birds, Tyson announced it was immediately ending the practice. And while over half of the top 20 poultry producers have confirmed they do not use “nose bones,” #5 producer Koch Foods remains silent.
Because today’s broiler birds are bred to grow so unnaturally large, so quickly, these “nose bones” were once widely used to restrict male “breeder” birds’ food intake so they would live long enough to breed. Now, most US poultry producers have stopped “boning,” and it’s time for Koch Foods to issue a public statement so consumers know where the company stands on this cruelty.
Please make a quick call to 1-800-837-2778 today with a polite message like this one: “Hi, my name is _____ and I’m calling as a concerned consumer to ask whether Koch Foods is still using outdated, cruel ‘nose bones’ in its broiler breeders. Over half of the top 20 producers, including Tyson, Perdue, and Pilgrim’s, have already confirmed to Compassion Over Killing that they’re phasing out or don’t use ‘nose bones.’ Will Koch Foods join them and issue a public statement?”
Don’t forget to email info@cok.net with any response you get from the company, and please spread the word on social media after you call!
