Tell Trump to Stop Political Retaliation Against Christopher Wray
The Issue
In a disturbing interview with NBC News, President Donald Trump strongly implied that the Justice Department is — or should be — investigating former FBI Director Christopher Wray, despite offering no evidence of wrongdoing.
This isn’t about justice. It’s about retaliation.
Trump accused Wray of “inappropriate” behavior and claimed “we just found out” about alleged FBI misconduct tied to the January 6th attack — a claim widely disputed and not supported by any independent investigation, including the DOJ’s own inspector general. In the same breath, Trump suggested the DOJ is already pursuing Wray: “I would think they are doing that.”
Let’s be clear: The Justice Department is not supposed to serve the president’s personal vendettas.
This isn’t the first time. Trump publicly demanded investigations into former FBI Director James Comey — who was indicted last week. He’s also targeted Letitia James, Adam Schiff, and countless others who challenged him politically. And now, his second-term Justice Department appears to be following his orders.
We, the undersigned, demand:
- An immediate end to politically motivated DOJ investigations targeting former public officials
- Public statements from DOJ and congressional oversight committees reaffirming DOJ independence
- Congressional hearings into the politicization of law enforcement under Trump and AG Pam Bondi.
Christopher Wray was Trump’s own pick to lead the FBI. His firing, and any retaliation since, appear to be motivated by loyalty tests — not the law.
This pattern of punishment sends a chilling message to anyone in government: Serve the public — and you may be prosecuted.
Tell Trump to stop using federal law enforcement as a political weapon.
Stop the retaliation. Protect our democracy.
