In a recent interview, President Donald Trump reignited his call for the United States to acquire Greenland — even saying he wouldn’t rule out using military force to take the territory.

This is outrageous.

Greenland is not for sale, and certainly not open for military takeover. It is a self-governing nation within the Kingdom of Denmark, with its own people, language, and culture.

The idea that the United States — or any country — could forcefully acquire another sovereign territory in the 21st century is not just offensive. It’s dangerous.

Leaders in both Greenland and Denmark have condemned the remarks, calling them disrespectful, absurd, and a threat to international stability.

We, the undersigned, call on President Trump to immediately retract his comments about acquiring Greenland.

Publicly commit to respecting Greenland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Abandon all efforts — diplomatic or military — to take control of Greenland against its will.

Greenland belongs to Greenlanders. Full stop.
