We’re writing today to tell you about an exciting development in our campaign to do away with the politically-motivated & medically unnecessary restrictions on the abortion pill. 

A federal judge ordered the FDA to stop enforcing its ban on mailing the abortion pill. The ruling will take effect in a few days, and will apply nationwide. This is great news! Doctors and nurse-practitioners who already provide medication abortion can now mail or deliver pills directly to their patients, unless they live in one of the 15 states that prohibits delivering Rx meds by mail. Tens of thousands of pregnant people will now be able to obtain this safe method of abortion care without the extra burden of taking time off work, arranging for childcare, and traveling during a pandemic.   

But, the FDA needs to do more, and we are continuing our #MailTheAbortionPill campaign to ensure that the FDA permanently lifts all medically unnecessary restrictions on the abortion pill. The judge’s order only lasts as long as the federal government declares that COVID-19 is a public health emergency, and it could even be overturned by a higher court.
