Actualización sobre la peticiónSave Moreton Bay - Stop Toondah Harbour developmentHappy World Migratory Bird Day 2021

Today we celebrate the 37 species of migratory shorebirds that visit Australia each year.

As our petition reaches over 42,200 signatures, I thank you for your efforts to protect Moreton Bay’s remaining intertidal wetlands that support around 23 species of migratory shorebirds.

Without these wetlands and their rich biodiversity and food sources, species like the critically endangered Eastern Curlew will become extinct.

At least 84 young Eastern Curlews have recently been seen on the Toondah sandbank and many feed in the Ramsar area near the ferry. https://bit.ly/3Atm3V3

Southern Moreton Bay is home to 1800 Eastern Curlews, one of Australia’s largest flocks.  were living in the southern part of Moreton Bay, making it one of the largest flocks in the country.

If you are in the Moreton area and surrounds tomorrow, it would be great if you could join BirdLife Southern Queensland and the Toondah Harbour Alliance for a live performance by the Corymbia Piano Trio and a screening of Invisible Connections by Bowerbird Collective, in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day 2021.

Concert starts 3-4.30pm tomorrow a Ron Hurley Theatre, 28 Tallowwood Street, Seven Hills.
Tickets available at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/shorebirds-connect-our-world-corymbia-piano-trio-and-bowerbird-collective-tickets-178415394247

Thanks again for your support for this petition and the birds - let’s keep Toondah special :))
