Finally some good news on a Federal Environment Minister decision about saving a critically endangered species in a RAMSAR wetland.
Thank you Minister Ley for acting to protect the Sandy Strait by rejecting an ‘on-shore’ Turtle Cove retirement village development near Hervey Bay as it ‘would have presented an unacceptable risk to important roosting habitat for the critically endangered Eastern Curlew in an area which regularly supports ecologically significant proportions of its global population.
Please do the same for the Eastern curlews, mangroves, seagrass meadows, on-shore koala colony and other environmentally significant species threatened by a 3600 unit development out in the sea replacing 40 ha of Toondah Harbour’s RAMSAR wetland at Cleveland!
