Rev Warnock: Seek Relief for #CameroonMigrantWomen sterilized in GA's immigration Jail
The Issue
Dear Senator Rev Warnock
CC: Georgia's Black Congressional Delegation,
During your 2020 and 2022 campaigns, along with Planned Parenthood, there were significant investments into messaging/advocacy about "women's rights" and "Black Reproductive Rights".
Yet, we are disappointed that forgot about raising awareness and seeking relief for Black women such as the #CameroonMigrantWomen who were traumatized, abused and sterlized in Georgia's immigration jail.
This holiday season, the Cameroonian community in Georgia is seeking immigration relief called Special Humanitarian Parole for the deported women who were deported for protesting medical negligence in immigration jails in Georgia, Texas and nationally.
The silence on the medical abuse and sterilization of #CameroonMigrantWomen, with the conversation of reproductive rights and women's rights, is deafening and unjust.
If these Black women were denied abortion access, would that have been more of a priority for Reverend Warnock, the other five (5) Black Members of Congress and Planned Parenthood?
Can we give equal visibility and relief to Black women suffering from medical negligence as we do abortion access?
Is there room within Black reproductive rights to fight for relief for medical negligence in jails as we do abortion access for Black women?
If yes, please help us build visibility and seek immigration relief called Special Humanitarian Parole for Cameroon.
Kindest regards,
#CameroonMigrantWomen
