President Barack Obama is set to go down in history as the first U.S. President to cut the country's commitment to fighting AIDS.
The President’s 2013 budget includes $220 million in funding cuts to fight global AIDS -- an amount equal to a loss of care for 640,000 people living with HIV/AIDS for one year. U.S. funding cuts have led to the closure of two HIV/AIDS treatment centers in South Africa, and the Obama Administration has projected a 79% cut in global AIDS funding for hard-hit Ethiopia. This is shameful.
These budget cuts mean death for people living with HIV/AIDS. Join AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization, and call on Obama to stop these shameful cuts and make fighting for people with HIV/AIDS his legacy.
Take action and send a message to the President: Budget Cuts = Death.
In order to keep our promise to fight AIDS in Africa, we must increase funding for PEPFAR and implement programmatic changes that will restore the program’s focus to providing treatment.
Mr. President: Budget Cuts = Death. Restore global AIDS funding now!
