Action Alert! Residents of Los Angeles and Long Beach: Call your Mayors Garcetti (213-978-1028) or Garcia (562-570-6801) today (June 26) to ask for their Metro Board support on funding and action to implement Metro's Transit to Parks Strategic Plan.
Script: I'm a resident and calling about Metro's Transit to Parks Strategic Plan, which will be discussed on June 27 at the Metro Board Meeting. I'm asking Mayor ___ to use his vote on the Metro Board to direct funding and action to implement Metro's Transit to Parks Strategic Plan. This is an Outdoor Equity issue for our communities that do not have access to public lands such as the beautiful mountains and beaches in our region.
The community is asking to provide at minimum $1 million this year and a 10% annual increase in funding to implement the plan, a Metro staff coordinator and marketing assistance. See our petition on change.org for more information. Thank you!

Action Update: Good news, we made the first hurdle! Now we need your strong attendance on June 27, 2019! Our advocacy was on point at the June 19 Metro Planning Committee meeting. Over 40 community members, including youth and seniors attended, and 10 spoke about the clear need for Metro to fully fund the Transit to Parks plan. We spoke about the need to connect #publictransittopubliclands so our communities have equal access to nature and become future environmental stewards. They heard us, thanked us for our commitment, voiced their support and voted to advance the plan to the full Board for presentation.
So what are you doing Tuesday, June 27 at 9:30?
One Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90012, 3rd Floor, Metro Board Room. Show up, this is the meeting we've been waiting for!! The full Board of Directors will take public comment on the plan, and we need a strong show of support to provide Transit to Parks for all of L.A. County.

Did you know? Our #SanGabrielMtns get more visitors than @yosemitenps? And you can actually get to Yosemite from L.A. by transit... but there's no way to visit our local mountains without a car!
