Save Marcus Garvey Library
Feb 1, 2015
Thank you so much for supporting our petition to Save Marcus Garvey Library. The council has responded to the overwhelming support for the library by issuing a series of vague reassurances about their intentions. But this week we finally managed to get the leader of Haringey Council Cllr Claire Kober to admit on twitter that:
1) They do plan to move customer services offices into the library
2) There will be a reduction in library services
3) There will be a loss in floor space
4) There will be a reduction in staff numbers
You can see the full conversation by following us @savetottlibraries.
The council is still being very vague with the information they share with us, not sharing the details of their plans, or giving library users a proper time line for any kind of consultation about the changes, so we are inviting the leader of Haringey Council Cllr Claire Kober to come to a 'Mass Read' in Marcus Garvey Library to see the support the library has for herself. We are inviting children (and adults!) to come dressed as their favourite book characters and read together. The event will take place on National Library Day next Saturday 7th February from 2 - 4 pm in Marcus Garvey Children's Library N15 4JA. For more details please join our facebook event page:

or via our facebook page: savemarcusgarveylibrary
or twitter: @savetottlibraries
Please join us for this fun day and spread the word with friends, neighbours, schools etc. so that the council can see how important this facility is to the whole community.
Together we can Save Our Library!
Thank you for your continuing support.
