This is not by accident. It is purely by design that their voices were silenced. It's precisely one the reasons we need to keep pushing against obscenity laws and censorship. Historically, these laws were made to punish people who spoke out against the systems that were in place. Consider how Comstock silenced reproductive freedom advocates, or gay rights advocates. Now they're looking to do it again with KOSA, IODA, STOP CSAM, the SCREEN Act, the SOAP Act, the Appstore Accountability Act, COPPA 2.0, and the Sammy Act.

You may be forgiven for thinking that these bills will protect children from being victimized. That is, tragically, how these bills are designed: to make them seem safe and appealing as to hide the true dangers when they are finally put into law. They're made this way to silence critics and experts who rightfully call them out for how ineffective and punitive they are by branding them as predators or creeps who want to harm others.

There should be more consideration that maybe the people speaking out are victims of abuse seeking to prevent the greatest abuses ever permitted on a national scale from being put into place by the government. Continue to share the petition, but also call your congresspeople and urge them to oppose these bills!
