The Issue

Americans are facing long TSA lines during the partial DHS shutdown. Families are frustrated. Flights are delayed. Spring break plans are disrupted.

But Democrats say the real issue isn’t airport inconvenience — it’s accountability inside the Department of Homeland Security.

The shutdown began after Democrats refused to fund DHS without reforms to ICE, following the fatal shootings of two Minneapolis residents during ICE protests earlier this year. Lawmakers are calling for stronger oversight, clearer identification of agents, limits on mask-wearing, and tighter warrant rules.

This is not about punishing TSA officers. It’s about reforming an agency accused of operating without sufficient safeguards.

Airport lines are temporary. Loss of civil liberties and unchecked federal force are not.

We call on President Donald Trump and DHS to stop using TSA delays as political leverage and instead work with Congress to implement meaningful ICE reforms while restoring DHS funding.

Security should protect Americans — not harm them.

Stand with Democrats calling for reform, accountability, and responsible DHS funding.
