50 years of the Hyde Amendment is 50 years too many. It’s past time to bring an end to the Hyde Amendment, a discriminatory policy that limits access to abortions for so many.
The Hyde Amendment has been used to restrict the use of federal funding to cover the costs of abortions. Hyde’s restrictions apply to all Medicaid recipients, and they extend to almost anyone who gets their care through the federal government, including people in the military, in federal prisons and detention centers, in the Peace Corps, and more. Access to abortion is hard enough without adding to the financial burden.
