Tell Congress & the President: Reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban!
The Issue
Among the world's 23 wealthiest countries, 80 percent of all gun deaths are American deaths and 87 percent of all kids killed by guns are American kids.
The recent mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado, which killed and injured 70 people, involved an AR-15 assault rifle, which can hold upwards of 100 rounds.
While there are many factors we need to address in regards to mass shooting and the extremely high levels of violence and homicide we face in our nation, the simple truth is that if these high capacity guns weren’t allowed by law, recent tragedies such as in Aurora and WI might have had far fewer casualties.
There was a time when these types of guns were not legal to sell, that was until the assault weapons ban was allowed to lapse in 2004. We must push Congress and the President to reinstate the assault weapons ban. Sign the petition today to let them know!
