Comrades,
Thank you for signing the petition that asks Andy Gardner to step aside. Over 700 people have signed. That is a strong vote of no-confidence from a petition that has only been spread by word of mouth.
Next, please consider signing this petition that asks our school board to step down. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSerwdHGm_CiqlDVk04U1EwtLtHp2XgoKj_4d4TyZ2fDMUTD0Q/viewform
These petitions, together, mark the start of a movement in Albany to restore competence and collaboration to our school board. Together, these petitions have reached over 1,500 signatures. In less than a week.
The incompetence of the district and school board have failed our teachers, our kids, and our community. They have had 10 months to get this right, and they've used middle school, anti-union-101-type tactics to drag this strike on as long as they can in a cynical attempt to turn the community against the teachers.
By signing these petitions, we are saying loud and clear that we reject their biased "reports," delay tactics and hollow statements to the press. They have made it clear that they don't value public education.
Thank you for your continued support for our public education system. By sticking together, we can win a fair contract for our students and teachers and ultimately, in our May elections, replace this unfathomable incompetence with people who care more about educating kids than hiring their friends with outrageous salaries.
If you would like to get more involved in supporting our teachers, please consider supporting the daily pickets at your local school, or follow a newly formed group on Facebook called SASS (Strong Albany SchoolS). Teachers need our support. Feed them, donate to the strike fund, give them a hug. They're putting their livelihoods on the line for our kids.
In solidarity.
Your pal,
Al
