TELL AMAZON! Stop using Lasership for U.S. last-mile delivery!
The Issue
Who doesn’t love the convenience of Amazon? Amazon Prime is a modern miracle, often delivering packages the day after you place an order, or even same-day. Amazing!
How can Amazon ship so fast? Amazon has spent the past few years building out local logistics in metro areas. Amazon doesn’t always have its own staff delivering packages; in high-demand areas, Amazon Logistics contracts with local delivery carriers to ship packages the “last mile,” delivering them from Amazon’s fulfillment centers to customers’ doorsteps.
One of these delivery companies is LASERSHIP. Lasership has an ABYSMAL track record for last-mile deliveries.
Who is Lasership? Lasership is an Amazon Logistics contractor in many metropolitan areas in the U.S. Their website says, “ Lasership’s last-mile ground delivery network consists of more than 60 distribution centers and 4 sort centers across 23 states that reach over 140 million consumers in the US. Lasership has evolved into a leading provider of same-day and next-day delivery services in the Eastern and Midwest U.S. for e-commerce and product-supply businesses, including some of the largest retailers in the world.”
Lasership is well known for mis-deliveries, incomplete deliveries, and deliveries left on doorsteps without ringing recipients’ doorbells or knocking on doors. Sometimes, Lasership also sends a “Delivered” status (which Amazon relays to customers) when a package hasn’t yet been delivered...and sometimes, Lasership simply never sends a “Delivered” status at all, making it impossible for customers to retrieve their package from the doorstep before thieves can steal it.
WHY IS THIS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD CARE ABOUT?
- This is frustrating for shoppers, especially when a package is valuable or when they have altered their schedule to be home to receive an important package.
- It’s costly for Amazon, who then must refund the customer’s purchases...and customers suffer when Amazon passes along these costs via higher fees.
- It’s inconvenient for customers with lost or stolen packages, who have to replace their purchases, and especially when they are left in the lurch when the Amazon re-shipment will be too late for their needs.
- But most importantly, as a result of these sloppy delivery practices by Lasership, the misplaced packages are attracting thieves. Residential areas in Lasership’s coverage areas are seeing increased incidence of package theft crimes.
No neighborhood wants to attract this kind of criminal element simply by virtue of being in a Lasership delivery area.
How can I know these claims about Lasership are legitimate? Just check out Lasership’s 1- and 1.5-star average Yelp ratings in NYC and elsewhere for proof of this company’s poor track record and dissatisfied customers!

Why does Lasership suck so bad? Their website says, “Lasership partners with more than 5,000 independent contractors to make residential and business deliveries.” In other words, it’s not actual Amazon employees delivering packages. Amazon hired a contractor, and that contractor hired a contractor. Amazon has no direct influence over the quality of Lasership deliveries. With their Amazon partnership, Lasership has faced pressure to grow faster than their hiring and management practices can responsibly support...if they can’t find enough warm bodies, they risk Amazon dropping them as a carrier. But it’s clear that is exactly what needs to happen!
TELL AMAZON WE DESERVE BETTER!
Amazon: we are your customers, and this isn’t just affecting our shopping satisfaction, it’s affecting the safety of our neighborhoods. You scaled too fast, at our expense!
Do the right thing, Amazon: either get rid of Lasership (and irresponsible last-mile carriers of their ilk), or discontinue your local next-day delivery services if you cannot find reliable carriers who can ring a doorbell and deliver packages properly!
